MOVIE DIARY 2018: THIS ISN’T A GAME! IN THE REAL WORLD, WHEN YOU KILL PEOPLE THEY DIE! FOR REAL!

Woman On The Run (1950) by special guest Caroline Golum
Antitrust (2001)
Fifty Shades Freed (2018)
Being Julia (2004)
Dirty Dancing (1987)

Hello and welcome to another installment of MOVIE DIARY 2018, the longest running movie diary in the world unless I’m proven otherwise! I’m trying to think about fun things to do with this space before we get to the reviews every week, but maybe it’s just enough to be myself, you know?

This week we’ve got filmmakerwriter, and connoisseur of finery Caroline Golum! She’s an expert, you should listen to her.

MOVIE DIARY 2018: OF COURSE IT’S POSSIBLE TO HURT ME. I’M THE MOST SENSITIVE PERSON.

Deadpool 2 (2018) by special guest Aubrey Bellamy
Mistress America (2015)
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

We’re back and MOVIE DIARY 2018 is kicking off blockbuster season with a couple of superhero movies because you know what, FUCK IT. This week’s special guest is Aubrey Bellamy! I’m pretty sure you already know her, and if you don’t that is definitely a “you” problem.

MOVIE DIARY 2018: WE DON’T NEED ANYTHING FROM ANYBODY. WE ARE SELF-CONTAINED, BABE.

Two Lane Blacktop (1971) by special guest Laura Wynne
Race With The Devil (1975)
Aloha Bobby And Rose (1975)

MOVIE DIARY 2018 is back, this time with one of my favorite writers on movies, Laura Wynne! Laura is also one of the hosts of the only movie podcast in the world, Travis Bickle on the Riviera.
I didn’t really plan for it to work this way, but this week we’ve got a 70’s special! Three movies from the 70’s and two of them feature Warren Oates! That’s just what the 70’s were like, I guess, you’d go out there and get high and lose your Led Zeppelin tickets then decide to watch a movie with Warren Oates in it then you’d drive around aimlessly and hope you wouldn’t get drafted, what a wild time, I assume! Maybe I’ll do more themed weeks in upcoming MOVIE DIARY 2018 entries on purpose next time!

MOVIE DIARY 2018: PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND ME, WE DON’T HAVE TO PLAY BY THE RULES. WE CAN MAKE OUR OWN.

Pride & Prejudice (2005) by special guest Kristin Lueke
Better Luck Tomorrow (2002)
Gamer (2009)

Thanks to the good folks at Levi’s and Porsche, MOVIE DIARY 2018 returns for another entry. This week, I’ve got poet and friend from online, Kristin Lueke! Kristin is someone I’ve been friends with online for years now, and it’s kind of weird to think that we all probably have old friends from online by now, but I think that’s a nice thing. And when it comes to nice things from the world of online these days I’ll take what I can get! Anyway, I’m really glad she’s here this week and you will be too!

MOVIE DIARY 2018: PEOPLE THINK THAT PIPES GROW IN THEIR HOMES– BUT THEY SURE AS HELL DON’T!

Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) by special guest Pete Toms
You Were Never Really Here (2017)
Eraserhead (1976)

A little bit of a light week this time around because I have been catching up on TV, sorry! I was kicking around the idea of writing about some of that TV, but this isn’t TV DIARY 2018, this is MOVIE DIARY 2018, baby. This week I’ve got writing from one of my favorite cartoonists, Pete Toms! Pete makes comics that I think perfectly capture the absurdity and alienation of being alive in this time when everything is dumb and hyper-connected. Mother’s Day is coming up so please think about giving your mom the gift of Pete’s comics.
